Abstract
The work was carried out in the technified nursery Camarones, belonging to the Baracoa Agroforestry Company, with the objective was to evaluate the effect of different organic substrates on the quality of the container-grown S. mahagoni seedling cultivated in 200 cm3 contained. Four combinations of substrates made from mixtures of cocoa husk, coconut fiber, sheep manure and pine sawdust in a completely random experiment with eight treatments and five replicas. The substrates were characterized and the morphological parameters of the seedlings were: height, root collar diameter, dry biomass, as well as quality grown. From these values, the morphological indices were calculated: Slimness and vigor Index. The results obtained showed that there was a differentiated effect on the plants' morphology, depending on the substrate in which they were cultivated, and that it was S2 formed by 40% cocoa husk + 25% coconut fiber + 25% sheep manure + 10% pine sawdust (Cc-50%+Fc-25%+Eo-25%+As-10%) which provided the best values in the parameters studied.
